Unit 2 Feedback

Hi there!

Hope I didn’t talk your ear off. lol. If you have feedback, post away!
– Did you learn anything new?
– Was the information easy to understand?
– Did I miss anything?

If you’d prefer to wait until you have the transcript before posting feedback, that’s okay too.

    Hi Linda,

The second unit was again fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I was wondering how you were gonna tie the King Arthur stuff in but, as usual, you had done your research and it segued beautifully. Chalice, Grail, King Arthur - yep! I got it.

I am hoping to do my KEI searches etc from module 1 this weekend but God knows what my family has “organised.” I get little advance warning that WE are going out or WE are having visitors - so MY plans can be destroyed very quickly.

I know you get sick of hearing how bloody busy I am. I’m just gonna have to say NO to all the requests I get. My damn blog keeps me busy enough without all that - AND I am trying to run a business with employees… *sigh* - and the demands of tax reporting - yada, yada, yada.

Anyway, I want to run through the mp3 and the pdf of Module 2 again. I took 4 pages of notes despite what you said - ie not to. Can’t help it. I just do that from my training and studies.

Um, I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY (have I said that enough times?) would love to have that chronological order check list from A to Z. If I have concise instructions and an example to work from then… pretty much I can do ANYTHING.

As mentioned in the Q&A at the end of the call if I get a bunch of instructions (eg from A to Z) but they are out of order or not logical to me then I get bogged down trying to invent the best way to proceed.

Hey! I’m a guy and I am a choleric-melancholy personality (according to Florence Littauer - world famous personality expert) and that combination in the density that I have it is the worst of the worst kind - ie control-freaky, do-it-my-way-or-the-highway, absolute ruler, leader-of-the-gang, blah, blah combined with detailitis and total perfection in everything. I am trying to be less like this but my God it is so damn difficult. I need details!

Um, just on that score… I wasn’t happy at all with my last video. there were so many things that I could find fault with but… I decided to not waste any more time on it, slap it up and Hey Presto! … in 3 days it has had almost 4,000 views. Now, in the past that would still be sitting on my computer waiting to be made PER-FECT! Probably for weeks or months. So, instead or 4,000 views I would have a partially completed project with ZERO views and NO response.

In fact, I have so many projects on my computer that are 90-95% done. So, I am making progress.

I don’t watch TV hardly at all. I just work. But i need to be more willing to just run with what I have got rather than trying to be Mr Bloody Perfect.

Um, back to the matter at hand, for me I would also like A1, A2, A3 and then B1, B2, B3 etc. Sorry - TOTAL PAIN IN THE ASS! I know. But, I think this would help everybody. I just need law and order in my life. And I don’t think I am the only one.

Anyway, GREAT “class.” You will be able to slingshot this course into the newbie-sphere. I can feel it. I can see it. Excellent effort.

    Gary

PS: I sent out an email to all 27 people that I invited on that list. It was a bit terse but IM(not so)HO those who missed out REALLY missed out. This is wonderful material and I can see it being the cornerstone to a LOT of successful websites - IF people tune in! Will they tune in? I dunno? Again, it is individual CHOICE - ah, the Power of Choice!

You know what fuels our choices, right? Our beliefs. What we think affects what we believe… and what we believe affects what we do. So, our choices stem from our beliefs.

No, I won’t start that all over again. lol.

    Hi Linda,

Looking forward to the MP3 and the PDF - think I shall have a very busy weekend ahead of me. I’ve read Gary’s rant of biblical proportions, he makes some fair points as per usual, but people will never behave the way you want them to! Controlling nature there…

Anyway - I’m just grateful that you kindly record the calls & provide the PDFs so for those of us with legitimate excuses (I only answer to me, and I accept my reasons!) have a chance to catch up & join in when we can.

    Thanks,

    Nikki

    Hi Linda,

Just like to congratulate you once again on an excellent conference call. It was very effective linking in a story with the material you were teaching. Well done Linda.

And thanks for using the new site I setup for the FAQ Unit 1 ‘Live Example’. Your feedback on my example of setting up the golden ladder certainly helped me understand more and I am sure it will be of benefit to others as well.

I have just checked the traffic stats for my new site and it is getting some traffic! Wow! Only a trickle at this point, but then again I have only set up pages for the first rung of the ladder. I will be adding content for the other ‘rungs of the ladder’ over the weekend and am looking forward to monitoring the results.

Can’t wait or the session 3 next week where you are doing a ‘test’ build.

I can certainly see the great potential in all this and plan to use what you are teaching us to build some niche sites and be a success story from this pilot program.

Thanks once again for making it available to us Linda,

    Garry

    Hi Linda,

Again I missed the live call “dam” !! I´ve just managed to grab 20 minutes or so before I have to go back out to work but, I just wanted to tell you how pleased I was to see the mockup of a sales style blog, this was one area I was really concerned about.

Apart from my main blog I am starting to build a series of commercial “sniper” sales sites based around long tail keyword phrases. One of the sites I am building is for my Mom. For the last 30 years she has followed, with a passion our family tree, so I purchased a domain “familytreetrace.com” which has over 1800 searches a month, with only 4170 competing pages. The OCI isn´t mind blowing, but it´s not bad either =O)

She has written a book about the subject, so her idea is to sell the the book on the site. The other way she would like to monetise the blog would be to use a plugin that Richard Legg has produced. It works similar to adsense, but it pulls in clickbank product adverts based around a keyword of your choosing. It´s totally free and can be found here http://hopadplugin.com/

On the subject of automating content generation for these sites. What do you think about the caffeinated content plugin ? I think of all the scraper style plugins this one seems to bring back the most natural reading articles.

I Know one of the most time consuming areas is finding profitable niches and keywords. I hopefully have that side of the job covered, as I have just signed up to a programme being run by Travis Sago. On a daily basis he sends me a list of targeted keywords based on niches that he and his partner have chosen, because as we all know the most important factor is to find a niche that has potential buyers !

I saw this programme on the Warrior forum

    http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-special-offers-forum/66775-ultimate-money-getting-shortcut-travis-sago-matt-davis.html

Like Gary pointed out in his comment, it´s a fine balancing act to get projects 100% completed and not just nearly there, and still have time to sleep ! I am in a difficult part of my working year now, as the boating industry gets into full swing around this time of the year, and gets even more manic towards the end of this month right up until June/July, when hopefully I will be able to devote all my time to my various internet projects.

Anyway back out the door now to finish polishing a 65ft hull, looking forward to next weeks lesson.

    All the best,

    Paull

Oh and by the way Gary, re your email. My reasons for not being at the live call where not because of a lack of interest or commitment. As you can see from my comment to Linda, it´s all down to outside commitments. Thankfully Linda has had the good grace to make the mp3´s of the call, so I can listen to it a day later on my ipod

    Hey Linda,

Another great module, enjoyed reading the transcript. I like how everything is tieing together. I’m visualising my first project already.

I do agree with Gary S. about having a kind of step by step plan. This is just something everyone in the Internet marketing world wants. I’m going to assume we’ll get that with next week’s example. An example is worth even more than a step-by-step plan, because you can see the results of each small action. Even that diagram of the layout of a commercial site is a good start, a way of visualising what’s being discussed.

And this is what gives you that belief you were talking about. It’s very true. Once you have that proof - either from your own experience or from someone else - you have a new belief in what is possible, and a new drive to achieve it.

Anyway, I always try to take what I’m learning and put it into my own step-by-step plan, and that’s what allows me to accomplish anything (again just like what Gary said). So for instance, with your course here, I have this:

    1) Research market and decide business model
    2) Research golden ladder keywords
    3) Build blog with level 1 keywords first
    4) Make main page with a higher level keyword
    5) Google analytics, sitemap generator, seo plugin etc
    6) Submit to MSN search, submit a couple articles

That’s just a basic example. I do have a couple questions at this point (that maybe you will address later), such as:

*If I’m making a niche site that I intend to set and forget (or add the higher level keywords a bit later on), do I want to throw up 5-10 golden keyword blog posts all at once, or make it more natural timing for google?

*How important are backlinks? I always placed a high importance on them. I know from my experiments with article marketing that I can get a simple 1 page squeeze page to get a trickle of search engine traffic by bombarding it with article links.

*Are you going to teach basic seo skills, like keyword density, and which plugins to use (and backlinking strategies)?

    Thanks,
    Ed

Hey, Linda. Just read through the transcript, and of course the second unit was dynamite–I love the way you present your information, with the backstory so to speak.

If I got into what I’ve been learning about belief systems and how to change what’s in your subconscious, my post would be longer than Gary’s (sorry, mon cher).

Suffice it to say that The Answer (John Assaraf) is a good counterpoint to The Secret…takes out the mumbo jumbo and lays out the scientific basis. And points out that action is required, just as you say.

I have no problem now believing that a significant income can be generated on the internet. Where I’m having my difficulty is that I have fallen behind in technological competency. I simply don’t have the skillset for steps 3-6 in Ed’s helpful post above.

Like Gary, I require some detail in order to take action, and I struggle similarly with the what to do first, then next, etc. Further to that, once we get to any step that requires taking some technical action, I will require very detailed step-by-step instructions on exactly HOW to do so.

Bless ALP for bringing us together, because there are so many people out there touting so many different aspects that I am simply overwhelmed.

Like anyone else, when I am overwhelmed, I am unable to take action. It’s almost mental paralysis. Knowing I can trust you to not only tell the truth but actually have the truth is priceless.

I don’t know whether you want to include remedial blog building/html in your book, or whether it should be a separate, pre-requisite product. But if I am to receive full value from what we’re doing here, I must somehow get up to speed with the technology. What would you suggest–or is that what Unit 3 will provide?

Nikki… you’re very welcome. I know everyone can’t make the calls because of work/etc., so I don’t mind that some listen along by MP3.

For that matter, I don’t even mind if people aren’t interested - it’s their choice. In the test phase I’d rather have a few active people than a whole mess of people who aren’t all that interested.

    Garry…
Oh no… it’s you that should be thanked for the example. It really did help me clarify and you saved me having to create an example, so thank YOU.

Yay to hear you’re getting a trickle of traffic from your first rung. Now take submit those urls to MSN search, and put the first article in an article directory and link back with the golden keyword. : )

Paul… I’m going to come back and reply to yours after I go check out your links. I’m loving working with you. The back and forth rapport and sharing of resources is awesome. May I adopt you? lol

    Ed…
    Great questions!

    1) Best way would probably be to paste in all the articles, but use wordpress to set them to post one a day until they’re all up. If you’re really impatient, you could post them all at once, but one by one would be more natural timing for Google.

    2) Backlinks are very powerful if they’re one way (not link trades). The different kinds of backlinks and which work best is part of the seo segment.

    3) You bet! lol

Glad you’re enjoying it and thank you for joining in so enthusiastically. The feedback is very appreciated.

    Hey Paull…
Good show on building a blog for your Mom, that’s really awesome. Seriously.

I just checked out the hop ad plugin. I’d never tried it, but I like shortcuts as much as the next guy, so I’ll give it a whirl this weekend.

Caffeinated content plugin - there’s a can of worms, hey? lol. Here’s what I think. I think it could be great, or a disaser, depending on how it’s used.

Caffeinated content pulls content from yahoo answers, YouTube and article directories (as you know). So, if a person was to pull in the content for the idea generation aspect, and then edit/tweak/add to, it could be very helpful. Not that much different than poking around Google to get inspiration for content.

But, if a person was to just pull in the content as is and not do anything else, I think it would end up creating sites that aren’t much above scraper blogs and are pretty useless to the end reader.

I think the average consumer who really IS looking for something gets annoyed at all the garbage content they find (I know I do) and I think that creating content that’s good for the end user is what’s most important. I’d much rather have 6 pages of GOOD content that’s based in a handful of golden keywords than 60 pages of garbage scraped off the web. You know?

Used wisely, I think it has potential. I also think “most” people won’t use it wisely.

    Hi Cheri…
You were posting at the same time as me, so I missed your post in my last reply. lol.

Yes, Unit 3 is my stab at talking everyone through the technical process.

By now, I could set these things up in my sleep, so I’ve had to really work at not assuming and making sure to explain each step.

That’s why I’m going to send prep info in two stages, and then the checklist after. I want to cover everything that needs covering, but without that whole overwhelm thing.

It’s probably the unit I’ll need most feedback on before it’s ready to roll out commercially.

    Hi Linda,

Thanks for your feedback on the caffeinated plugin, Now I know that it´s just another scraper I wont be touching it with a bargepole !!

Obviously the quality of content on any site in my view is a direct indication of the quality of the product you are trying to sell.

    All the best,

    Paull

    Hey, thanks for the answers.

    Thought of one more…

Will I be penalized in any way if I submit the same article to ezine articles as the ones on my blog? Is that what you suggested at the end of the unit, for the gentle ‘traffic nudge’? I would think they should be completely unique from each other, just wanted to make sure.

Now I’m torn as to whether to get started or wait for your specific instructions in the next module. I wouldn’t want to do anything wrong, but I’m itching to get going.

Maybe it is just better to get it going, and then next time around I can improve.

    Hi Linda:

Thanks again for another great session. Although I couldn’t make it live, (and now I’m bruised and bloodied from the Simpson Smackdown), I’m still with ya.

After listening to the most recent mp3, let me try and put into perspective, just what I feel that your coaching is doing for me, and hopefully for everyone else as well. I liken my online business journey to running a marathon. I’ve never run a marathon before, but hey, I’m strong, intelligent and in pretty good shape, I should be able to do this no problem. What I did not bother to do, was train prior to the race, so in essence, I’m running this marathon with blinders over my eyes, my hands cuffed behind my back and with leg irons. Not a pretty scenario…

So I begin this online marathon…step, step, huff, huff, puff-this is impossible-I know I should have trained for this. Now what am I going to do? I’m strong and determined (stubborn) dammit, I’ll do this, even if it kills me first…Okay, I’ll just buy some training materials and learn as I go-buy, buy, buy…Hey, all this material is telling me, is that I’m running in a race (gee thanks) and that I really need a (trainer) mentor…

Three courses and one mentor later…

The mentor has told me that I need to run in a lane, pace myself, and he’ll give me a nudge every now and then, to help me along. But his advice was confusing, overwhelming, at times simply wrong, and his nudges have been more like pushes that only made me stumble and almost fall. I just can’t run any faster still saddled and burdened by all these constraints. Perhaps I’ll get to the finish line one day, but the stadium will be dark and the crowds will have long gone home…

What you are accomplishing that no one else has been able to do so far, is to remove the blinders, so that I can see the track and the race for what it is; produce the key to unlock my handcuffs so that I may work; and unshackled my leg irons, so that I may run. Once all these actions have been accomplished, then and only then, can I use my natural talents and intelligence to pursue my goals of not only finishing the race, but winning the whole enchilada, as well.

    Thanks so much,
    Denis

PS-Some serious soul searching was in order as well, after your section on “The Plan”. I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m more of the solitary type, and the thought of Twitter, makes me gag. Only if I absolutely have to, will I do it-but I don’t consider it enjoyable. (You Tube, Twitter and reality shows are an upcomimg rant post of mine. But not in an IM blog. I’ll be starting a new blog, with what I really want to say). If I’m leaving money on the table, so be it, money is not the sole motivating factor in my life. Yikes, I think I’m almost ranting anyway…

  14. lindac said :
    March 27, 2009 at 8:51 pm

Hi Ed… You’re very welcome. :) And no, you won’t be penalized for using the same articles as you have on a blog or site. All that happens is if you use the same article (ie; identical) too many times, the first few indexed copies will rank okay and the latter ones will be marked as dupes and either won’t be indexed or will be indexed poorly.

What you can do to get around that is just change them up a little. You can use an article changer site to make subtle changes. Just as a word of caution, READ the “after” version to make sure it doesn’t sound like you’re half illiterate. It does a pretty decent job, but sometimes needs a few corrections: http://www.articlechanger.net/

    Paull…
I do think CC is a bit different from the really nasty scrapers because it doesn’t just go get content and throw it on your site while you’re on the beach sipping martinis earned by scraper cash. lol. Pardon my bad sense of humor. CC does allow you to pull in content and then completely edit. So, you could theoretically use it for “ideas” more than content. For example, when it searches yahoo answers for a specific keyword, it would give you an idea of what questions people have in a market… which could be inspiring as far as finding “what to write about” in relation to keywords. I just wouldn’t pull content and use as is, that’s all. : )

    Denis…
What a wonderful and heartwarming post. Thank you. I spent too many years without “the plan” and once I really started doing one for myself, it cleared up a LOT for me.

Incidentally, I hear you on the Twitter thing. Somewhere along the way I want to do something on social media, because I truly believe there are two ways to use social media. Not everyone has endless hours a day to twitter with other twitterers.. and that doesn’t even yet mention the real twits. But I think there’s a solution for people like you and me so that social media can be helpful without the time hindrances.

    Hi Linda,

OMG ! If you remember I told you yesterday that I had built my Mum a genealogy site, and based the domain name around a specific keyword search “family tree trace”. Anyway, to cut a long story short just this morning I got Mum to make a small video and I uploaded it to YouTube 2 hours ago and the video is lying seventh place on page one with the keyword phrase in inverted commas out of 4,080 pages. Out of commas, half way up second page out of 14,100,000 pages. !!!
As you can probably imagine Mum´s is in raptures.

This certainly proves that what you are teaching works like a dream. Mum has got 3 or 4 posts up already and she is using your techniques to the letter.

    All the best,

    Hi Again,

Well that´s strange, My mom has become a bit of a stat junkie =O) She has just checked the ranking again for her video in commas and it´s fallen off the face of the earth but, the video is still on page two for the broad match phrase. Go figure the big “G”

    Paull

  18. lindac said :
    March 28, 2009 at 3:38 pm

Paull… Hurray for your Mom. (and you) No worries, the broad match is more of an indication of how you’ll rank overall. If it’s on page 2 against 14,100,000 competing sites, that’s awesome!

Now go submit both the youtube url and main page url to MSN. Click webmasters at the bottom of the page and then go to the submit url page. Submit the youtube url first and then the site main page second.

Nikki… Yup.. I sent the urls for Unit 2 on Thursday evening after I cleaned up some of the beeps from the MP3. lol. I’ll resend you the urls by email instead of posting them here.

    Hi Linda,

Oh bum ! We have just realised that the ranking is for Google Spain, never mind Spain is a big country =O)

I have just got the msn code to to verify the sites ownership. Tell me though Linda how do I post the Youtube url as I don´t think Mr YouTube will allow me paste a string of code on their site =O)

    Hi Paull…

LOL. Spain IS a big country. (that was funny)

I’m sorry, I wasn’t very clear… and I probably missed a step assuming everyone knows it, when they don’t. lol.

    1) Go to your Mom’s youtube.com video. Look at the “information” (description) about the video, which is posted to the right hand side of the video. Is your Mom’s blog url in it? If not, edit the description and start with her url. Something like http://MyDomain.com presents…. (and then description) That way, you get a linkback FROM youtube to your site.

    2) YouTube also lists the url direct to the video (also on the right side)
    It looks something like this….
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkhgdhtiurt
(I have no idea what that urls loads, I just typed letters at random so don’t click just in case. If you do anyway, tell me what happens. lol)

    3) Go to MSN Live Search and submit the direct url to the video as if it was “your site” The submit box is here;
    http://search.msn.com/docs/submit.aspx

Does that make more sense? lol

    Hi Linda,

LOL I knew about the youtube links, what I meant was, the route I took with MSN was obviously the wrong one =O) I was asked to paste a string of code into the blog template, which I´ve done. After seeing the link you provided I realise that I took the long winded approach !!

Anyway all sorted now, thanks for your time and advise..

    Hi Linda et al,

Well, that all seems rather positive after my opening salvo (translated: rant) and the fact that I sent out my “gentle” email to all the good folks above and those who are yet to make an appearance.

Hey Denis - you make me laugh! The “Simpson Smackdown.” I LOVE the WWE (wrestling). I’m gonna do a post on that in the future. It’s on my massive list of blog posts to write. I am NEVER ever gonna run out of ideas!

Just on the WWE - it is an awesome teacher of branding and positioning in the marketplace, not just the idiocy of it all. WATCH the fans - see how they are sucking and slurping it all up. It is BRILLIANT marketing.

Anyway, D-Man from the “Portal” - the Gazzman from the TEMPLE would never even bother to send out such “mildly chiding” emails if:

1 - he did not believe in the talents of Linda “Q” Caroll and
2 - he didn’t care about all the monks who come to his temple santuary.

I know only too well how much stuff is out there on the net - do this, do that, do it now, get it done, follow this guru, buy this, buy that, blah, blah, blah.

After I sent that email I thought about the message I was sending and how what I was saying was probably no different to all the other “instructions” being sent to people every hour of the day. For a short while I was actually annoyed with myself for being so terse. But then…

… after I REALLY thought about it I realised that I had done it for all the right reasons. To help people.

So, I hope everyone understands that. I know I can be dictatorial. It’s my nature, I guess - as it is to waffle on, rant, semonise, pontificate and try to make myself understood.

OK enough. The monks are calling for me…

So I must make haste back to the Temple and - despite the fact that my Motivational Moment Video #3 is closing in on 9,000 views - I am tiring of it. I need a new post and I have one swirling around in my head just waiting to come out.

Catch you good folks on the 3rd “Whole E Grail” call.

    Gary

PS: Linda, maybe we can mix the time up this time to give some of the others a chance at listening live - eg Ken Douglas who had to be with patients last time. Just a thought. It’s your show.

    Hi Linda

Great so far. Must get back to my CB research and KEI’ing. Looking forward to Unit 3 and thanks for getting the recordings and transcripts out to us so quickly. Much appreciated.

PS, How do I get my photo to appear alongside my comment, like most of the others have done?

Wendy… all you need to do is create an account at gravatar.com. Gravatar allows you to upload a photo and “associate” it to an email address. Then whenever you use that email address when posting to blogs, the photo will appear.

    :)

    Hi Linda,

I hope you can help me here. What´s your take on using dashes between words in a long tail url if the keyword phrase is already taken. Does it have any detrimental effect on seo ?

    All the best,

    Paull

Oh and by the way I will fill out the information you need in a mo =O)

Hi Paul. Dashes are no problem. I’ve started the FAQ I talked about and put a longer answer in it. lol. It’s here… enjoy!

    Hi Linda

Thanks for that. However, when I insert my email address at gravatar.com it says ’sorry, that email address is already used!’. I’m puzzled as this is the first time I’ve been to that site. Any ideas?

Hey Wendy… isn’t that funny… that happened to me, too! At first it threw me for a loop. Then I clicked the “forgot password” and, sure enough, they emailed the password to me. Try that and see if it works for you, too.

You’re brilliant - it seems to have worked. Thanks.

    Hi Linda,

I’ve got my golden ladder and all of my golden keywords, now I’m working on matching them up with content.

I have to say you have done the best job I have ever seen at not only explaining HOW to do keywords research, but also precisely WHICH keywords to pick out of all of the ones you have researched, HOW to use them in your site and content, and most importantly WHY. Very well thought-out, and I appreciate the formulas you give which take the “guess-work” out of keyword research. Very well done!

Looking forward to more great stuff!

BTW- I love the “Got it on ebay” cartoon image you’ve got on top!

Adam…. thank you. I know you’ve been around the block and back when it comes to online fun, so that means a lot coming from you. :)

Hey, Linda - just checking in to see if a date/time has been set for the next call yet (and maybe I missed it - which I wouldn’t for the world [not on purpose, anyway]). I’m thrilled to see I’m NOT alone in my questions and confusions! I particularly “grok” Denis in his distilled life-story-on-the-internet saga. He says it all and says it well.

I do just want to say again that I’m still buzzing with excitement about the supplies we’re getting from your store of knowledge. Thank you again for putting up (and with such grace!) with the questions and pleas and ignorance of a group of hungry students, as it must take far more of your time and mental energy than we give you credit for.

In the time since the last call, I’ve gotten up a site with 3 products, some video, and about 15 articles. I’ve tried to follow your model as closely as I can - built the keyword ladder, got the domain name based on the results, submitted the site to MSN, kept it pretty simple despite my knee-jerk tendency to add more, more, more. A day after I finished it (and before submitting it to MSN) I checked my Google analytics and had about 30 visitors…don’t know if that’s good or not. No buyers, yet.

My question at this point is about the articles. I put them all up at once, rather than in stages - was that a bad idea? And secondly, they are not original articles, so I couldn’t send them to eZine. Would you suggest I re-write one of them to submit under my own name? Or should I write an entirely new article and submit that to the 3 article repositories?

And last question: I don’t plan on creating any new material for this site, as it is meant to be pretty simple and just promote the 3 products I have up there. However, I do have a news feed that automatically updates every few days, as relevant news topics hit the web. Will that help keep my site sufficiently “noticed” by the bots?

Thanks, Linda - looking eagerly forward to part 3! Glad you’re evidently feeling better and over the weather again.

    Susan,

I have a question for you.

Like you I have my site up and am placing content to promote my products. I too noticed a flurry of activity shortly after I got things set up. However, after probing a bit deeper into the information from google analytics I discovered that a significant # of the visits shown were actually me placing material on the site. My question is this: Were your 30 visitors 30 unique visitors or 30 visits? If it was 30 unique visitors, in my opinion, that is fantastic for such a short time period.

    Ken,

Google Analytics is still shrouded in mystery for me! I figured from your comment that you must be right, so I poked around inside GA and figured out where to learn the answer to your question…and you WERE right. Most of the 30 (now 35) visits to the site were my own.

Linda’s golden keyword formula tells us that anything over a KEI of 100 is great, so when I found one that was over 67,000, I grabbed it and ran. So after getting the site up I figured maybe 30 visitors right off the bat might actually be possible - bit deflating to know that it’s not! But whenever Linda is able to give us more information about optimizing our sites, I still have hope that adding that to what I’ve already done will eventually bear fruit.

    Hi Ken,

A bit of feed back here from me.

I have a VERY new site that I have placed just a couple of short articles on. Nothing much at all really.

I have used a couple of my best keywords from level 1 of the ladder. I used those keywords in the prime positions for the articles - ie where Google likes to “see” them, supposedly (but who really knows - LOL!)

Google indexed me in approximately 2 days.

The site has been live now for just on a week. I have had 16 unique visitors, 1 of which was obviously me and 44 visits, most of which were me just adding bits and pieces - again nothing much.

Here are my stats so far:

United States - 59 pages viewed
    Canada - 55 pages viewed
    Sweden - 2 pages viewed

I suppose that is pretty good considering I have done so little and the site is only a week old.

    Gary

PS: Everybody please be patient with Linda as her father has been ill and he is 90 years old. Family comes FIRST! I wish him all the best.
